SUN He is Senior Education Research Scientist and Assistant Director at the Center for Research in Child Development, National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She holds a B.A. in English Language and Literature from Dalian University of Technology (China), two M.A.s in Applied Linguistics from Beijing Language and Culture University (China) and Ohio University (USA), respectively, and a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from the University of Groningen (the Netherlands).

 Her major interests are 1) the impact of reading and multimedia on child bilingualism, child mother tongue language learning in particular, 2) individual differences in early bilingualism/second/foreign language acquisition, and 3) harmonious bilingual experience. Her work has appeared in journals such as Bilingualism: Language and Cognition, Child Development, and International Journal of Bilingual Education and Bilingualism, and Studies in Second Language Acquisition, and has been featured by various media, such as Straits Times and CNA. Her work has been funded by the Ministry of Education, Singapore, and Temasek Foundation.

 She is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Child Language, a Consulting Editor of Child Development, and an Executive Committee Member of the International Association for the Study of Child Language.
